Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Employers’ Association (Apindo)
together with the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions
(KSPSI) has assured that the discussion of the Labour Bill (RUU
Ketenagakerjaan) will be conducted jointly between employers and
workers’ unions before being submitted to the government. Apindo General
Chair Shinta Kamdani, in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, emphasised
that the drafting of the new Labour Law must stem from mutual agreement.
“Therefore, all substantive matters will first be discussed in depth and
constructively between the two parties before being conveyed to the
government,” Shinta asserted. According to her, this approach is
important to ensure that the resulting regulations are not only
implementable and competitive but also reflect a balance of interests,
providing certainty for the business world and fair protection for
workers. This mutual understanding emerged during the Halal Bihalal
forum organised by Apindo, involving government representatives as well
as leaders of workers’/labour unions at Apindo’s office in Jakarta on
Thursday (9/4). “The relationship between employers and workers is not
merely formal but is part of an interconnected ecosystem like a large
family,” she said. Furthermore, amid global pressures such as rising raw
material costs, logistics, and geopolitical dynamics, Shinta emphasised
the importance of building trust and strengthening collaboration.
“Employers and workers are not opposing parties. Our challenge is global
competition, so we need to walk together, formulate strategies, and
present collective solutions,” she continued.
",
