ANZ Panin looking ahead<\/p>\n
In line with the rapid development of the commercial linkages
\nbetween Australia and Indonesia, the demand for finance by
\nAustralian companies doing business with and in Indonesia has
\nincreased.<\/p>\n
ANZ, through its joint-venture bank PT ANZ Panin Bank, is the
\nonly Australian-based bank with an operational presence in
\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
The joint-venture bank is 85 percent owned by ANZ and 15
\npercent by PT Pan Indonesia Bank (Panin Bank), Indonesia's 10th
\nlargest private commercial bank and has one branch in Jakarta
\nemploying 60 personnel.<\/p>\n
ANZ acquired its shareholding in ANZ Panin Bank in November
\n1993, and regards the acquisition as part of its strategy as
\n"Australia's International Bank".<\/p>\n
ANZ's international network now spans 43 countries, 19 of
\nwhich are located in the dynamic Asia region.<\/p>\n
ANZ Panin Bank is well placed to assist Australian customers
\nwishing to establish businesses or contacts in Indonesia and to
\nfinance trade and investment flows between the two countries.<\/p>\n
The Australian daily reports that the bank is also winning
\nbusiness from the rapidly growing numbers of Indonesian students
\nstudying in Australia. It reports that ANZ Panin has reintroduced
\nretail banking services; a move that the growing number of
\nAustralian expatriates living in Jakarta find extremely helpful
\nwhen doing their ANZ banking.<\/p>\n
ANZ is active in providing finance to support the activities
\nof companies doing business with Indonesia, through preexport and
\npostexport financing, trade letters of credit, working capital
\nloans, term loans and project structured finance.<\/p>\n
According to Albert Burgio, President Director, ANZ Panin
\nBank, "Companies are recognizing the value of having one bank at
\nboth ends of their international banking transactions. A bank
\nwhich understands their business and the local environment."<\/p>\n
In addition to trade finance and corporate lending, ANZ Panin
\nBank's on-the-ground commercial banking service includes risk
\nmanagement services, funds transfer and remittance services, as
\nwell as deposit products.<\/p>",
