Anwar still a threat behind bars<\/p>\n
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters): Malaysia's jailed former deputy prime
\nminister Anwar Ibrahim is being treated again for a bad back
\nafter officials relented and allowed his family to visit him in
\nhospital this week, his lawyer said on Friday.<\/p>\n
Anwar was transferred to hospital from prison last weekend but
\nrefused treatment when his wife and children were barred from
\nvisiting him.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, the opposition Parti Keadilan Nasional led by
\nhis wife won a by-election in Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's
\nhome state -- a victory which analysts said showed Anwar remained
\na potent threat to Mahathir even behind bars.<\/p>\n
On Friday, activists held an anti-government protest offering
\nprayers for jailed Anwar at a hospital where he is being treated
\nfor a slipped disc.<\/p>\n
Dozens of people gathered in a parking lot and cheered as
\nAnwar smiled and waved at them through an open window from his
\nbed on the top floor of the five-story building. Two prison
\nofficials stood guard over him.<\/p>",
