Antiterror squad to secure SBY's inauguration<\/p>\n

The Jakarta Police are set to deploy 2,037 personnel, including
\nthe Detachment 88 special antiterror squad, at the compound of
\nthe House of Representatives\/People's Consultative Assembly and
\nHotel Mulia in Senayan, Central Jakarta, for the inauguration of
\nPresident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Jusuf Kalla
\non Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\"We have started deploying some personnel at both compounds
\nstarting today, two days prior to the inauguration,\" city police
\nspokesman Tjiptono told a press conference on Monday.<\/p>\n
Police have included bomb explosions as one of possible
\nthreats as there was an explosion inside the House compound on
\nJuly 14, 2003.<\/p>\n
The high explosive bomb, which exploded before working hours,
\nripped through the rolling door of the central air-conditioner
\ncontrol room at the Nusantara IV building and shattered windows
\n75 meters away. The device was packed with shrapnel, including
\n15-centimeter nails, which police later found scattered 100
\nmeters from the blast site. No fatalities or injuries were
\nreported.<\/p>\n
The perpetrators -- Aditiawarman alias Adi bin Warman, 23, and
\nFadli Hasan alias Ifat Hasan, 44 -- were sentenced to six years
\nand four years imprisonment respectively.<\/p>\n
Security is also being beefed up due to the expected presence
\nof foreign leaders.<\/p>\n
Police have also prepared themselves for possible sabotage of
\nthe event, protests, general crimes such as theft and pickpockets
\nand infiltration.<\/p>\n
\"Traffic police will also be deployed to overcome traffic jams
\nthat will likely occur in the areas,\" Tjiptono said.<\/p>\n
Police have divided the security at the House compound into
\nthree rings. Ring I team comprises of 377 officers and is
\ndesignated to secure the entrances and inside the buildings. The
\n642-strong Ring II team is deployed around the compound and the
\nRing III team with 641 officers will secure the streets
\nsurrounding the compound.<\/p>\n
Some 297 policemen will also safeguard the Mulia Hotel, where
\nthe MPR members and national and international state guests will
\nbe staying.<\/p>\n
The security for Susilo and Kalla will be under the auspices
\nof the Presidential Guard.<\/p>\n
Police will also deploy two helicopters and other tactical
\nvehicles including water cannons.<\/p>\n
\"We will also coordinate with several hospitals to provide
\nambulances and medical equipment,\" Tjiptono said.<\/p>",
