Jakarta (ANTARA) - ANTARA News Agency and the Embassy of Pakistan in\nJakarta have agreed to collaborate on news exchange to balance global\ninformation, particularly in combating Islamofobia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is one government public sector news agency that is also\naffiliated with Pakistan\u2019s APP. We will see with whom we can find the\nright partnership with you,\u201d said Pakistan\u2019s Ambassador to Indonesia,\nZahid Hafeez Chaudhri, during a visit to the ANTARA Heritage Center in\nJakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
According to Ambassador Chaudhri, Pakistan is a country that is very\nvocal in opposing Islamofobia and emphasises that dialogue is crucial in\nreducing Islamofobia and addressing it directly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe would be very pleased to work with you. So, we will share content\nwith you. We will also see if we can hold some editorial meetings,\u201d said\nAmbassador Chaudhri.<\/p>\n
On the same occasion, LKBN ANTARA\u2019s President Director, Benny Siga\nButarbutar, stated that his side wants to share insights on handling\nIslamofobia, highlighting that many people are unaware of the true\nstories and history of Islam.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just say that Islam is not good. I think we must counter that\nimage. So we share news information, exchange news on how we can handle\nIslamofobia,\u201d said Benny.<\/p>\n
Regarding terrorism, Ambassador Chaudhri conveyed that Pakistan is\nthe most effective country in handling terrorism issues by combating\nterrorism itself.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have decided that we will strike terrorist elements wherever they\nare,\u201d said the Pakistani Ambassador, highlighting that Pakistan made the\ndecision based on national consensus that Pakistan needs to do\neverything in combating terrorism.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, Ambassador Chaudhri emphasised that Pakistan remains\nsupportive of any initiatives that promote peace in the region and in\nthe international community, where Pakistan\u2019s foreign policy is based on\nfriendly relations with all countries.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the same time, while we strive for peace, we also believe that\nnational sovereignty is very important, national security is very\nimportant. So, while striving for peace, we are also ready to defend\nourselves against any aggression,\u201d said Ambassador Chaudhri.<\/p>\n
Indonesia and Pakistan are countries that uphold moderation and peace\nboth regionally and internationally and work closely bilaterally and\nmultilaterally through international organisations, according to\nAmbassador Chaudhri.<\/p>\n
He assessed that Indonesia and Pakistan are expanding their\ncooperative relations, such as in the health, defence, economy,\neducation, people-to-people relations, culture, tourism, and other\nsectors.<\/p>\n
