Another landslide in Bali<\/p>\n
DENPASAR, Bali: A landslide demolished a house in Karangasem
\nregency on the eastern tip of the island on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
No fatalities were reported.<\/p>\n
It was the second landslide caused by heavy rain within a
\nweek. A landslide on Sunday killed at least three people in
\nBangli. Another victim was still missing as of Thursday.<\/p>\n
The head of Karangasem village in Antiga, I Nengah Suriata,
\ntold Antara news agency on Thursday that five occupants of the
\nhouse managed to escape and seek shelter at a nearby relative's
\nhouse.<\/p>\n
Suriata said the landslide occurred during the day.<\/p>\n
He blamed the landslide on persistent rain that started almost
\ntwo weeks ago and which had caused flooding on some parts of the
\nisland.<\/p>\n
The flood inundated dozens of houses by between 50 centimeters
\nand one meter high, according to Suriata. "But we expect the
\nfloodwater to recede over the next few days because the weather
\nis getting better," he said.<\/p>",
