        "content": "<p>Another labor activist jailed<\/p>\n<p>MEDAN, North Sumatra: The Medan state court yesterday<br>\nsentenced Soniman Lafau, the vice chairman of the Medan chapter<br>\nof the Indonesian Welfare Labor Union (SBSI), to nine months in<br>\njail after convicting him of inciting violence.<\/p>\n<p>Presiding judge Muhamad Kasim said in his verdict that<br>\nSoniman, 27, was proven guilty of inciting workers to strike and<br>\nstage protests which led to riots on April 14, Antara reported.<br>\nOne person died in the riots and hundreds of factories were<br>\ndamaged.<\/p>\n<p>The judge said Soniman had distributed circulars which<br>\nprovoked workers to strike.<\/p>\n<p>The circular was signed by the SBSI head, Mochtar Pakpahan,<br>\nwho was sentenced to three years in jail by the same court on<br>\nMonday.<\/p>\n<p>Asked by the judge whether he will appeal to a higher court,<br>\nSoniman said he accepted the sentence.
