Another dead baby found<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A newborn baby was found dead on the first floor
\nof the Kopro market in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, yesterday,
\ntaking the death toll of abandoned babies sent to the Cipto
\nMangunkusumo General Hospital this year to 50.<\/p>\n
The baby boy was found by a passerby in a black plastic bag
\nwith its head covered with ladies blood-stained underwear, a
\nTanjung Duren subprecinct police officer said.<\/p>\n
The newborn boy was believed to have been thrown away just a
\nfew hours earlier as the placenta was still attached to the tiny
\nstomach.<\/p>\n
An unidentified woman found the baby while shopping in the
\nmarket.<\/p>\n
When she passed the black plastic bag she smelt a putrid odor
\ncoming out of it, the officer said.<\/p>\n
The woman reported the find at the police station at 8 a.m.
\nOfficers rushed to the scene to pick up the infant.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday another newborn baby was found by a river cleaner
\nwhile he was sweeping garbage near the Kali Malang river in East
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
The baby girl was found in a brown lady's bag floating on the
\nriver. She was dead but there was no signs of physical violence
\non her tiny body.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the incidents, forensic expert Mun'im Idries
\nsaid that leaving a newborn child without proper treatment would
\nsurely lead to its death.<\/p>\n
Infanticide violates Article No. 341 of the criminal code and
\ncarries a maximum punishment of seven years imprisonment. (04)<\/p>",
