        "content": "<p>Another dead baby found<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): A newborn baby was found dead on the first floor<br>\nof the Kopro market in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, yesterday,<br>\ntaking the death toll of abandoned babies sent to the Cipto<br>\nMangunkusumo General Hospital this year to 50.<\/p>\n<p>The baby boy was found by a passerby in a black plastic bag<br>\nwith its head covered with ladies blood-stained underwear, a<br>\nTanjung Duren subprecinct police officer said.<\/p>\n<p>The newborn boy was believed to have been thrown away just a<br>\nfew hours earlier as the placenta was still attached to the tiny<br>\nstomach.<\/p>\n<p>An unidentified woman found the baby while shopping in the<br>\nmarket.<\/p>\n<p>When she passed the black plastic bag she smelt a putrid odor<br>\ncoming out of it, the officer said.<\/p>\n<p>The woman reported the find at the police station at 8 a.m.<br>\nOfficers rushed to the scene to pick up the infant.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday another newborn baby was found by a river cleaner<br>\nwhile he was sweeping garbage near the Kali Malang river in East<br>\nJakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The baby girl was found in a brown lady's bag floating on the<br>\nriver. She was dead but there was no signs of physical violence<br>\non her tiny body.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the incidents, forensic expert Mun'im Idries<br>\nsaid that leaving a newborn child without proper treatment would<br>\nsurely lead to its death.<\/p>\n<p>Infanticide violates Article No. 341 of the criminal code and<br>\ncarries a maximum punishment of seven years imprisonment.
