Aniston's 'Picture Perfect' focuses on love<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Valentine's is now past, but Cupid's arrow may
\nstill be in your future.<\/p>\n
Still reason for caution, however, as grand celebrations with
\na new or old love interest may no longer be advisable in this
\neconomic crunch.<\/p>\n
Magical movie moments, packing value for money, may be the
\nbest bet this weekend.<\/p>\n
The latest offering at local movie theaters, Picture Perfect,
\nis celluloid proof that love is most definitely in the air.<\/p>\n
Building on her popularity from the sitcom Friends, Jennifer
\nAniston tries her hand at the big screen once again after her
\nmovie debut, She's The One, failed to grab the attention of both
\nmoviegoers and critics.<\/p>\n
Unlike that first flop, Aniston is the lead in Picture
\nPerfect, playing talented advertising director Kate Mosely, who
\nis unable to land a promotion.<\/p>\n
It is a glass ceiling with a difference; her boss is reluctant
\nto promote her because of the fear that, without marital ties,
\nshe could abandon ship at short notice.<\/p>\n
Frustrated Kate ends up in a series of dates in order to get
\nher promotion and satisfy her mother, who desperately wants to
\nsee her daughter get married.<\/p>\n
The only coworker she is interested in, Sam (Kevin Bacon), is
\nonly attracted to women who are unavailable.<\/p>\n
Kate eventually goes along with her girlfriend's plan to
\ninvent a fictional fiance.<\/p>\n
She has to hunt one down (Jay Mohr) and hire him to pose as
\nher beloved. Together, they begin a crash course in each other's
\nlives and fabricate a past history of their "relationship".<\/p>\n
That many splendored thing called love is also celebrated in
\nTitanic and Touch Me, both still playing in the
\ncity's theaters.<\/p>\n
Pairing teen idol Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, Titanic
\nis an epic fictional love story set against the very real
\nbackground of the tragic sinking of the huge liner.<\/p>\n
It has left audiences all over the world swooning and mopping
\nup an ocean's worth of tears. And its producers are crying tears
\nof joy all the way to the bank -- it has brought in revenues of
\nmore than US$700 million worldwide, far exceeding its massive
\n$200 million production costs.<\/p>\n
Touch Me, starring Amanda Peet and Michael Vartan, is another
\nsoft option in its pursuit of the meaning of true love, with the
\nweighty subject of AIDS also thrown in for good measure.<\/p>\n
Immune to the love potion? Most Wanted and Tomorrow Never Dies
\nwill feed any avid addiction to action.<\/p>\n
In Most Wanted, Sgt. James Dunn, (Keenen Ivory Wayans), a Gulf
\nWar hero and highly trained sharpshooter, has to buy back his
\nfreedom by assassinating an industrialist. If not, he will spend
\nthe rest of his life in jail after being convicted for killing a
\nsuperior officer.<\/p>\n
Caught in a deadly conspiracy, Dunn has to fight not only for
\nhis life but also to prove his innocence.<\/p>\n
And for James Bond fans, there is no need to fight for tickets
\nas Tomorrow Never Dies is now on the daily screening schedule
\ninstead of midnight shows only. This time Pierce Brosnan teams
\nwith Hong Kong's Michele Yeoh in fighting the baddies. (ste)<\/p>",
