Animals, dancers set rally alight<\/p>\n
SEMARANG: Good times were had by all when thousands of
\nIndonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) here
\npainted the Central Java capital red on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
A group of partisan supporters brought with them wild and
\ndomestic animals, adding life to the campaign rally across the
\ncity. Amid deafening drums beaten by the marching crowd, ducks,
\nchickens, birds, snakes and orangutans stole the show.<\/p>\n
In another rare exhibition, some party supporters dressed in
\ntraditional costumes for a wayang puppet dance and drew much
\nattention with their comical gestures.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, the tandem of PDI Perjuangan deputy
\nchairman Mochtar Buchori and chief of the party's provincial
\nbranch Soeratal reminded party supporters to keep an eye out for
\npossible vote-rigging on election day June 7.<\/p>\n
\"We have lots of people but we must be careful of possible
\nmalfeasance during the vote count. If the elections run in a free
\nand fair manner, we will emerge the winner,\" Mochtar said. (har)<\/p>",
