Angry crowd burns minivan<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A mob set fire to a public transportation
\nminivan on Jl. Raya Bintara, Bekasi, after it fatally struck an
\nojek (motorcycle taxi) driver, police said yesterday.<\/p>\n
The motorcycle passenger was also injured. The minivan's
\ndriver, Colfrit Aritonang, 24, was slightly hurt but hid from the
\ncrowd in fear of his life. He later turned himself in to the
\npolice.<\/p>\n
Bekasi Police Chief Let. Col. Adjie Rustam told reporters the
\nojek driver, Jumadi, 30, died at the scene following the head-on
\ncollision due to severe head injuries.<\/p>\n
"The people, angry after they failed to find Colfrit who hid
\nin a kiosk, turned on his van," Adjie said.<\/p>\n
"When the police arrived on the scene, the minivan was already
\non fire."<\/p>\n
No arrests were made for the burning of the minivan.<\/p>\n
Separately yesterday, city police spokesman Lt. Col. E.
\nAritonang said four people injured in Monday's train-bus
\ncollision in Central Jakarta remained in comas at the Cipto
\nMangunkusumo and Persahabatan hospitals.<\/p>\n
He said they were passengers of a Mayasari Bhakti bus who were
\nunable to jump off the vehicle before it was hit by an economy-
\nclass train headed for Pasar Senen station at a railway crossing
\non Jl. Pramuka, Aritonang said. (edt)<\/p>",
