Angkasa Pura funds roadwork<\/p>\n
TANGERANG (JP): PT Angkas Pura II, which manages Soekarno-
\nHatta airport, has provided Rp 20 billion (US$200,000) to help
\nthe Tangerang mayoralty administration construct an alternative
\naccess route to the airport.<\/p>\n
Tangerang Mayor Mochammad Thamrin said on Thursday the money
\nwould only be used to finance the roadwork.<\/p>\n
Thamrin also said developer PT Lencar Sempurna had promised to
\nprovide Rp 4 billion to compensate some 300 families in Neglasari
\ndistrict who would be affected by the project.<\/p>\n
There have been increasing calls for an alternative route to
\nthe international airport. The only current access road to the
\nairport, Jl. Prof. Sedyatmo, often floods during the rainy
\nseason.<\/p>\n
\"The airport is one of the entrance gates to our country. It
\nwould be an irony if foreign tourists found their way to and from
\nthe airport blocked,\" Thamrin said.<\/p>\n
A spokesman for the Neglasari residents who will be affected
\nby construction of the new road, Mochammad Ichsan, demanded
\ntransparency in determining the amount of compensation these
\nfamilies are to receive.<\/p>\n
\"We have to be informed about how much money is allocated for
