Pre-trial hearing for activist Andrie Yunus against Polda Metro Jaya\n(PMJ) has entered the conclusion stage at South Jakarta District Court.\nPresided over by Single Judge Suparna, both parties presented their\nfinal arguments regarding alleged delays in handling the assault case\ninvolving Yunus.<\/p>\n
Yunus\u2019s legal team from the Democracy Advocacy Team (TAUD) asserted\nthat police intentionally stalled the legal process based on court\nevidence. They claimed there was an unofficial or covert attempt to halt\nproceedings related to Police Report\nNo.\u00a0LP\/A\/222\/III\/2026\/Satreskrim\/Restro Jakarta Pusat\/Polda Metro\nJaya.<\/p>\n
In their petition, the plaintiffs urged the judge to declare police\nactions unlawful. \u201cDeclaring the respondent\u2019s failure to continue the\ninvestigation and transfer the case without clarity constitutes an\nunlawful termination of investigation,\u201d stated TAUD\u2019s legal\nrepresentative during Tuesday\u2019s (26\/5) hearing.<\/p>\n
Additionally, Yunus\u2019s side requested the court order Polda Metro Jaya\nto transfer the case to the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office within 14 days of\nthe verdict.<\/p>\n
Conversely, Polda Metro Jaya\u2019s legal team vehemently rejected all\nclaims. They stated the legal process for Yunus\u2019s report remains ongoing\nand professional. Police deemed the pre-trial lawsuit misdirected and\npremature. \u201cAccepting the respondent\u2019s exception. The plaintiff\u2019s\nrequest is premature. There is no delay, transfer, or covert termination\nof investigation by the respondent,\u201d the police\u2019s legal representative\nstated in their petition.<\/p>\n
The verdict hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, 2 June. \u201cWe will read\nthe verdict on Tuesday, 2 June, aiming for 9am,\u201d said Judge Suparna\nafter the hearing.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the military court is currently handling the case against\nfour suspected TNI members accused of the acid attack on Yunus. This\npre-trial aims to ensure the case is transferred to civilian\njurisdiction.<\/p>\n
TAUD legal member Alghiffari Aqsa emphasised that a pre-trial victory\nwould pave the way for transferring the case to the Public Prosecutor\u2019s\nOffice (JPU).<\/p>\n
The military court hearing is set to hear expert testimony from RSCM\n(Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital) officials.<\/p>\n
