Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Commission VI, Andre\nRosiade, together with Pekanbaru Mayor Agung Nugroho, inspected the\noperations of the Payung Sekaki Nutrition Service Fulfilment Unit (SPPG)\non Jalan Demokrasi, Labuh Baru Barat Village, Payung Sekaki District,\nPekanbaru, Riau, today. The visit aimed to ensure the implementation of\nthe Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme meets the standards set by the\nNational Nutrition Agency (BGN) and to observe the impact of recent\ngovernment evaluations and reforms.<\/p>\n
During the inspection, Andre spoke with kitchen managers,\nnutritionists, and food production staff. He was informed that the\nPayung Sekaki MBG kitchen began operations on 27 April 2026 and\ncurrently serves around 1,384 beneficiaries. The number of recipients\nhad previously exceeded 1,500 before some schools entered their holiday\nand report card distribution period. Andre confirmed that new BGN\npolicies have been implemented, including the suspension of kitchen\noperations during school holidays and an adjustment to the incentive\nscheme, which is now calculated based on the number of\nbeneficiaries.<\/p>\n
\"This shows that BGN has conducted evaluations, made improvements,\nand ensured there are no budget leakages. Previously, incentives were\nflat; now they are adjusted per beneficiary. If there are a thousand\nbeneficiaries, the calculation is a thousand times Rp2,000. Programme\ngovernance is now more precise and transparent,\" Andre stated on Friday\n(19\/6\/2026). While touring the production area, he observed the food\nprocessing, packaging system, and the menu prepared for students. He\npraised the kitchen\u2019s standards, noting they met BGN\u2019s SOPs, from raw\nmaterial storage and production areas to supervision by certified\nnutritionists and chefs.<\/p>\n
Andre paid special attention to the involvement of local businesses\nin the MBG supply chain. He verified that the requirement to use at\nleast 15 SME vendors had been fulfilled by the kitchen. \"The most\nimportant thing is that economic circulation occurs within the\ncommunity. SME vendors must be involved so that the programme\u2019s benefits\nare not only felt by students receiving nutritious meals but also by\nsmall business owners in the region,\" said the Chairman of the Gerindra\nParty\u2019s West Sumatra Regional Leadership Council. He urged the Pekanbaru\nMayor to ensure all MBG kitchens in the city prioritise local SMEs as\nsuppliers of foodstuffs and operational needs. \"The Mayor must ensure\nall MBG kitchen vendors come from Pekanbaru SMEs. So that the state\nfunds used in this programme truly circulate within the community,\"\nAndre added.<\/p>\n
After the inspection, Andre asserted that the government under\nPresident Prabowo Subianto\u2019s leadership does not turn a blind eye to\nvarious criticisms and findings regarding MBG implementation. He said\nthe refocusing and audit steps taken by BGN demonstrate the government\u2019s\nseriousness in improving the governance of this flagship programme.\n\"President Prabowo\u2019s government listens to the people\u2019s aspirations.\nThat is why a major evaluation and overhaul is being carried out so\nthere are no more budget leakages, the programme is on target, and\ngovernance is increasingly better,\" he said. He explained that during\nthe school holidays, BGN will conduct a comprehensive audit of MBG\nkitchens in various regions to ensure all operations comply with\nestablished standards. Andre also revealed that the government is now\nprioritising the expansion of the programme to underdeveloped, frontier,\nand outermost (3T) regions and vulnerable groups to accelerate the\nreduction of stunting rates.<\/p>\n
Based on the inspection results, Andre expressed optimism that the\nFree Nutritious Meal Programme will continue to improve. He noted that\ncommunities in various regions, including Pekanbaru and West Sumatra,\nfundamentally support the programme\u2019s continuation because its benefits\nare directly felt by students and beneficiary families. Meanwhile,\nPekanbaru Mayor Agung Nugroho thanked Andre Rosiade for directly\ninspecting the MBG kitchen operations in Pekanbaru. He said the visit\nrepresented attention and support for the continuation of the programme,\nwhich is one of President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s priorities.
