The Chairman of the Central Board of the Minang Family Association\n(IKM), Andre Rosiade, inaugurated the IKM Hall in Labuan Bajo, West\nManggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, on Wednesday (25\/3\/2026). The\npresence of the hall serves as an important milestone for the Minang\ncommunity in the diaspora as a centre for social, cultural, and communal\nactivities.<\/p>\n
The inauguration of the hall was marked by the signing of a\ncommemorative plaque by Andre Rosiade. The plaque reads:\n\u201cBismillahirrahmanirrahim. By the grace of Almighty Allah, the\nconstruction of the Minang Family Association Building in Labuan Bajo,\nWest Manggarai, has been inaugurated by the Chairman of the Central\nBoard of the Minang Family Association. The inauguration was part of a series of communal visits by the\nChairman of the Central Board of IKM with the executives of the Labuan\nBajo IKM Regional Board and Minang migrants. The building was\nconstructed through collective mutual assistance by the local Minang\ncommunity, who have long sought to provide shared facilities as a centre\nfor organisational and familial activities.<\/p>\n
On that occasion, Andre Rosiade also handed over financial assistance\namounting to Rp25 million to support the completion of the Minang Hall\nconstruction in Labuan Bajo. This assistance represents tangible support\nfor the spirit of togetherness among the Minang community in the\ndiaspora.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of the IKM Regional Board for West Manggarai Regency,\nAzwar Amir, expressed appreciation for the direct presence of the\nChairman of the Central Board of IKM among the Minang community in\nLabuan Bajo. He stated that the construction of the hall is the result\nof collective efforts by residents who have mutually assisted in\ngathering manpower and funds gradually.<\/p>\n
According to him, the existence of the hall is greatly needed because\nthe Minang community in Labuan Bajo previously lacked a permanent venue\nfor joint activities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have had to seek different locations each time we held meetings.\nThe presence of this hall is a great hope for the Minang community in\nLabuan Bajo as a centre for joint activities,\u201d he said in his statement\non Monday (30\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
In his address, Andre Rosiade also highlighted the importance of the\nrole of Minang migrants in supporting the economy of West Sumatra. He\nnoted that the contributions of migrants are significant to the economic\nmovement in the region.<\/p>\n
According to Andre, West Sumatra\u2019s economic growth remains around 3\nper cent, below the national average of more than 5 per cent. However,\nthis situation is aided by the contributions from Minang migrants,\nestimated to send around Rp20 trillion annually to their homeland.<\/p>\n
Andre affirmed that, as a member of the Indonesian House of\nRepresentatives, he continues to advocate for the development of West\nSumatra through support for central government budgets for the\nconstruction of roads, bridges, and other strategic infrastructure to\ndrive regional economic growth.<\/p>\n
Andre also emphasised that the relationship between the homeland and\nthe diaspora must be continuously strengthened, as migrants play a\ncrucial role in advancing their homeland while preserving the identity\nand solidarity of the Minang community in various regions.<\/p>\n
Also present at the event were the Deputy Chairman of the Labuan Bajo\nIKM Regional Board, Imul, the Chairman of the Building Development\nCommittee, Aswears Aldy, and advisors to the IKM Regional Board\nincluding Suwan, Amril, Anas, Azwar Anas, and Rino Aditya.<\/p>\n
