Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives\u2019 Commission\nVI, Andre Rosiade, officially launched the free mudik programme \u2018Pulang\nBasamo 2026\u2019 at the DPR RI Complex, Central Jakarta. A total of 100\nbuses were dispatched today to transport mudik travellers from Jakarta\nto West Sumatra.<\/p>\n
Detikcom observed at the location on Sunday (8 March 2026) that\nPulang Basamo 2026\u2019s launch took place at 10:38 WIB. As the flag-off was\nraised, buses departed one by one. The atmosphere grew livelier as the\nklaxon horns blared in unison.<\/p>\n
Andre said this year\u2019s Pulang Basamo is the fourth edition since it\nwas first held in 2023. He expressed gratitude that the programme has\nhelped the people of West Sumatra who want to go home.<\/p>\n
\u2018Alhamdulillah, this has run well and helps the people of West\nSumatra who want to mudik back home,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
He added the programme also stimulates economic growth in West\nSumatra. Therefore the government provides free mudik for West Sumatra\nresidents.<\/p>\n
\u2018Because, to be frank, the economy of West Sumatra is the\nsecond-worst among Sumatra. The Chief of Police knows West Sumatra\u2019s\neconomic growth is only 3.3% per year, while inflation is 6%,\u2019 he\nexplained.<\/p>\n
\u2018Through mudik, my hope is that travellers also bring home money to\nhelp our brothers and sisters in the villages,\u2019 he continued.<\/p>\n
Andre noted that the programme has proven to mobilise the economy in\nWest Sumatra. West Sumatra residents working in Jakarta and the\nsurrounding areas help growth there.<\/p>\n
\u2018Alhamdulillah, for now these mudik travellers, the Police Chief, and\nthe Directors, this is what helps the economy of West Sumatra. Because\neach year the Minangkabau diaspora sends around 20 trillion rupiah back\nto the homeland. So the diaspora\u2019s money helps West Sumatra\u2019s economic\ngrowth,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
\u2018If there isn\u2019t money from the Minangkabau diaspora, perhaps West\nSumatra\u2019s growth would be only around 2%, not reaching 3.3%, which is\nfar below the national economic growth,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
He also described Pulang Basamo as part of President Prabowo\u2019s\ncommitment to assist people who want to mudik. He said all Gerindra\ncadres have pledged to realise this.<\/p>\n
\u2018This event is part of the President\u2019s commitment. President Prabowo\nhas indeed instructed all his cadres to work hard to assist the people.\nAnd this is the President\u2019s commitment to continue and organise the\nevent every year to help people who want to return home,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
The free mudik \u2018Pulang Basamo 2026\u2019 is divided into two waves. The\nfirst wave departed today, 8 March, and the second wave will depart on\n15 March next week.<\/p>\n
Andre said a total of 12,000 mudik travellers will participate in\nPulang Basamo 2026. The second wave will be dispatched with 150\nbuses.<\/p>\n
