        "content": "<p>Andersen Malaysia faces lawsuit<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian unit of beleaguered accounting<br>\ngiant Arthur Andersen faces a 350-million-ringgit (US$92 million)<br>\nlawsuit for alleged oversights while auditing publicly-listed CSM<br>\nCorp. and its two subsidiaries, news reports said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>CSM, CSM Capital and CSM Properties are claiming that<br>\nAndersen, the group's auditor in 1998-2000, failed to detect<br>\nirregularities in the accounts of the three companies, The New<br>\nStraits Times daily said.<\/p>\n<p>Andersen issued a statement Monday, countering the<br>\nallegations. \"We have carried out our professional duties in<br>\ncompliance with approved auditing standards in Malaysia. We have<br>\ninstructed our solicitors Messrs Shearn Delamore and Co. to<br>\nvigorously defend the proceedings and to vindicate our<br>\nreputation,\" the firm said.<\/p>\n<p>Andersen Malaysia completed its merger with Ernst and Young<br>\nMalaysia in June. --DPA<\/p>",
