JAKARTA (JP): Journalists without sources resemble someone who
\nloses his or her lover -- the person from whom one seeks
\ninspiration.<\/p>\n
In the wake of the General Session of the People's
\nConsultative Assembly, media workers in Palu, the capital of
\nCentral Sulawesi, as well as their counterparts in provinces
\noutside Jakarta, bank on local analysts to enrich their stories.<\/p>\n
As the top agenda of the session -- the presidential election
\n-- approaches, journalists in Palu are missing out on the action
\nbecause many of their sources do not appear to be in the mood.<\/p>\n
\"He's sleeping\" or \"he's not home\" were the frustrating
\nresponses to journalists attempting to follow up on Saturday
\nobservers' responses to President B.J. Habibie's accountability
\nspeech.<\/p>\n
Several analysts told Antara news agency they were fed up with
\nobvious attempts by certain factions in the Assembly to force
\nothers to accept their wishes.<\/p>\n
\"Our comments are useless, because the ongoing deliberation on
\nthe nation and state affairs in the Assembly have been tarnished
\nby unethical and emotional behavior,\" said a lecturer from local
\nTadulako University who requested anonymity.<\/p>\n
