Jakarta (ANTARA) - Political communication analyst Hendri Satrio\n(Hensa) views the visit by Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya\nto the People\u2019s School in Pejompongan, Central Jakarta, as an example of\neffective public communication.<\/p>\n
According to him, not many officials are willing to take the trouble\nto personally witness the realities right in front of them.<\/p>\n
\u201cIndeed, it\u2019s as simple as that, but this needs to be highlighted\nbecause it\u2019s rare for anyone to do so. I think many officials know about\nproblems like this, but knowing alone is not enough,\u201d Hensa stated in a\ncomment in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
For context, the visit was carried out by Seskab together with Social\nAffairs Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf to directly check the\nconditions of children who have been out of school.<\/p>\n
Hensa considers the visit as a form of the government\u2019s commitment to\nserving the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf officials are willing to show up, sit down, and talk directly\nwith the children, no more words are needed. The public can judge for\nthemselves who is serious and who is not,\u201d Hensa said.<\/p>\n
He also highlighted the way Teddy communicated with the children at\nthe people\u2019s school during the visit, without giving a long speech or\nrevealing data on programme achievements.<\/p>\n
During the visit, Teddy only interacted directly with the children\nand gave a brief statement based on his observations in the field.<\/p>\n
\u201cI see this as honest communication: action first, then speak, not\nthe other way around. Come, see, listen, then convey it as it is. That\u2019s\nactually the hardest thing to do,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hensa conveyed that this communication pattern aligns with the recent\nimprovement in communication from the Palace side.<\/p>\n
According to him, it\u2019s not about how often officials appear in the\nmedia, but whether that presence feels genuine or not in the eyes of the\npublic.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf this is done consistently, not just once and done, I don\u2019t need\nto say whether it\u2019s good or not, but society itself will conclude, and\nonce that\u2019s the case, no narrative can counter the trust that forms\norganically,\u201d Hensa said.<\/p>\n
During the visit, Seskab met prospective students of the People\u2019s\nSchool, who are mostly from decile 1 families or the extreme poverty\ncategory.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, welcome here, little ones. (The People\u2019s School) is not yet\noperational, so Mr Mensos invited me to check the school,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
More than 70 prospective students of the People\u2019s School from\nelementary to high school levels, originating from various areas in\nJakarta, gathered at the People\u2019s School building, which occupies the\npremises of the Higher Institute of Administrative Sciences (STIA) of\nthe National Institute of Public Administration (LAN) RI in\nPejompongan.<\/p>\n
