The eruptions, accompanied by incandescent\nlava fountains, occurred while the volcano\u2019s activity remained at Level\nIII, or Siaga (Alert).<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad Dika Nurzaman, an officer at the Anak Krakatau Volcano\nObservation Post of the Centre for Volcanology and Geological Hazard\nMitigation (PVMBG), Geological Agency, said the eight eruptions were\nrecorded during the observation period on Sunday (16\/8\/2026) from 00.00\nto 24.00 WIB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEight eruptions were observed with heights of 200 to 300 metres\nabove the crater peak, with grey and black smoke observed. In addition\nto the eruptions, incandescent lava fountains were also observed,\u201d Dika\nsaid in an official report received in Jakarta on Monday\n(17\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Based on visual observations, Mount Anak Krakatau was clearly visible\nuntil it became covered in fog. Crater smoke was observed to be white,\ngrey, and black, with thin to thick intensity.<\/p>\n<p>The smoke rose to heights of approximately 10 to 300 metres above the\npeak. Volcanic activity was also evident from the high seismicity\nrecorded throughout the observation period.<\/p>",
