Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) in the Sunda Strait was recorded as having\nerupted 42 times on Tuesday (25\/8) \u2014 from midnight until midday.<\/p>\n
This was stated in a report uploaded to the Magma Indonesia page,\nowned by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, based on\nmonitoring during the period from 00.00 to 12.00 WIB.<\/p>\n
The report states that from 00.00 WIB to 06.00 WIB, Mount Anak\nKrakatau erupted eight times, with amplitudes of 55\u201366 mm and earthquake\ndurations of 71\u2013971 seconds.<\/p>\n
This was followed by 60 emission earthquakes with amplitudes of 12\u201359\nmm and durations of 10\u2013105 seconds. There were also six harmonic tremors\nwith amplitudes of 45\u201362 mm and durations of 43\u2013757 seconds.<\/p>\n
Anak Krakatau also experienced three low-frequency earthquakes with\namplitudes of 19\u201342 mm and durations of 13\u201320 seconds.<\/p>\n
There were 16 hybrid or multi-phase earthquakes with amplitudes of\n21\u201358 mm, S-P not observed, and durations of 16\u201327 seconds.<\/p>\n
One continuous tremor earthquake was recorded with an amplitude of\n2\u201350 mm, dominant at 10 mm.<\/p>\n
\u201cGrey and black smoke was observed from the main crater with thick,\nhigh intensity, reaching approximately 50\u2013300 metres above the summit,\u201d\nthe report stated, as quoted on Tuesday evening at 15.31 WIB.<\/p>\n
From 06.00 to 12.00 WIB, GAK was recorded as experiencing 34 eruption\nearthquakes with amplitudes of 44\u201369 mm and durations of 25\u2013290\nseconds.<\/p>\n
In the monitoring report accessed on the Magma Indonesia website, the\n34 eruptions of GAK took place from 06.00 to 12.00 WIB.<\/p>\n
\u201c132 emission earthquakes with amplitudes of 13\u201366 mm and durations\nof 7\u201321 seconds,\u201d wrote monitoring officer Rioboniek Situmorang in his\nreport on the Magma page.<\/p>\n
The active volcano, located in the waters of the Sunda Strait at an\nelevation of 157 metres above sea level, spewed volcanic ash with thick\nintensity reaching heights of 100 to 400 metres.<\/p>\n
GAK, which erupted violently in 2018 and subsequently caused a\ntsunami along the southern Sunda coast, also experienced four harmonic\nearthquakes with amplitudes of 37\u201361 mm and durations of 17\u201383 seconds\nduring the monitoring period from 06.00 to 12.00 WIB.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne low-frequency earthquake with an amplitude of 44 mm and a\nduration of 12 seconds,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
There were also 23 hybrid or multi-phase earthquakes with amplitudes\nof 17\u201353 mm and durations of 7\u201321 seconds.<\/p>\n
One continuous tremor earthquake was recorded with an amplitude of\n3\u201360 mm, dominant at 20 mm.<\/p>\n
