An apology to all Indonesian People<\/p>\n
I am ashamed to be Australian and I apologize to all
\nIndonesian people for the hysterical and criminal actions, and
\nmob-mentality of so many of my fellow Australians.<\/p>\n
I am indignant that an act of terrorism has been perpetrated
\npresumably by one of Corby's maniacal supporters, against the
\nIndonesian Embassy in Canberra; that threats have been made
\nagainst Indonesian people and some Australians have reportedly
\nasked for their tsunami donations to be refunded.<\/p>\n
None of this is acceptable or civilized behavior and the
\nresponsibility and blame for this hysteria lies solely with the
\ncorrupt Australian media who have created an American-style,
\n(\"Survivor\"-type) reality television drama out of the Schapelle
\nCorby incident.<\/p>\n
This has been done because it is good for television ratings
\nand it sells newspapers. It will also make for good sales of the
\nnumerous books that will no doubt be written about all of this.
\nHowever it is not good for society, it is not good for
\ninternational relations, it is not justified, and it is not
\nacceptable to any rational or intelligent person.<\/p>\n
The Australian population is mostly unaware or at least
\nunconcerned about all the other ex-pats who are currently in
\njails throughout Southeast Asia because the Australian media has
\nchosen not to cover their stories. It needs to be added that most
\nof these jailed expats also declare their \"innocence\".<\/p>\n
The Australian media has been conspicuously and suspiciously
\nlow-key in their coverage of the so-called \"Bali-Nine\" who were
\nrecently arrested In Denpasar with heroin allegedly strapped to
\ntheir bodies, because the media knows that their story will not
\nattract sympathy.<\/p>\n
The Australian media in general is responsible for the racism
\nand xenophobia that has resulted from this entire unpleasant
\nbusiness and again I apologize for all the distress this has
\ncaused Indonesians and for the damage done to Australian-
\nIndonesian relations and to tourism in my beloved Bali.<\/p>\n
