        "content": "<p>AMT escapes RI crisis<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE (Reuters): Electronics contract manufacturer PT<br>\nAstra Microtronics Technology (AMT) has escaped Indonesia's<br>\neconomic crisis and expects sales to rise more than 10 percent<br>\nthis year, a senior official said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\"Annual sales last year were in the US$90 million range. This<br>\nyear, it was projected to be $105-108 million,\" chief operating<br>\nofficer Michael McKerreghan told Reuters in an interview.<\/p>\n<p>AMT has a plant on Batam island involved in silicon wafer<br>\npreparation, assembly and testing of integrated circuits and<br>\nwarehousing and shipping of final products.<\/p>\n<p>McKerreghan said AMT did not have any business from crisis-<br>\nridden Indonesia as it was an export-oriented company. Its base<br>\nof 40 customers hardly ship any products through Indonesia, he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>AMT also operated independently of troubled parent Astra<br>\nInternational, McKerreghan said.<\/p>\n<p>Astra International is Indonesia's largest automotive firm and<br>\nis owned by the Nusamba Group, an investment vehicle for three<br>\ncharities headed by former President Soeharto. It holds a 85<br>\npercent stake in AMT.<\/p>",
