Observing developments in the geopolitical situation in the Middle\nEast region, which has resulted in flight cancellations, rescheduling,\nand route changes due to conflict between the United States, Israel, and\nIran, the Association of Muslim Umrah Organisers of the Republic of\nIndonesia (AMPHURI) has urged all members of Umrah Travel Operators\n(PPIU) to take appropriate measures.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of these is to conduct intensive communication with airlines to\nobtain the latest information regarding the status of pilgrim flights\nbefore departure to the airport,\u201d said AMPHURI Secretary-General Zaky\nZakaria Anshary to Media Indonesia on Sunday, 1 March.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he also requested that operators promptly inform\npilgrims of any schedule changes, delays, route diversions, or flight\ncancellations so that pilgrims can understand the situation\nunfolding.<\/p>\n
PPIU operators must also ensure that pilgrim services and comfort are\nmaintained, including the provision of accommodation, food and beverage,\nlocal transportation, and support during flight delays both in Indonesia\nand Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen prepare mitigation measures and contingency plans in case of\nprolonged delays or operational flight changes that affect pilgrim\ntravel schedules,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
PPIU operators must also actively coordinate with the Indonesian\nConsulate General in Jeddah, Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, and relevant\nauthorities to ensure the safety and smooth travel of umrah\npilgrims.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, provide maximum support to pilgrims, including\nmaintaining calm and offering clear explanations so that pilgrims\ncontinue to feel safe and comfortable.<\/p>\n
\u201cPPIU operators must also monitor international developments and\naviation policies regularly through airlines, airport authorities, and\nthe government. Finally, prioritise pilgrim safety and security as the\ntop priority in every operational decision regarding travel. Therefore,\numrah pilgrims who will depart or who are already in the Holy Land are\nasked to understand should there be any changes or delays to the\nprogramme,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Zaky hopes that all AMPHURI members can take anticipatory and\nresponsive measures to maintain the quality of service and security for\nIndonesian umrah pilgrims.<\/p>\n
