        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Japan\u2019s Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi views\ndefence cooperation with Indonesia as a strategic step amid escalating\nglobal conflict tensions, including in the Middle East region. \u201cThese\nshared fundamental values will make a significant contribution to peace\nand stability, not only for the two countries but also for the region as\na whole,\u201d Koizumi said in a joint statement following his meeting with\nDefence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin at the Ministry of Defence office\nin Central Jakarta on Monday. According to Koizumi, Indonesia and Japan\nshare several fundamental similarities, including being archipelagic\nnations, thus necessitating strengthened cooperation in maritime\ndefence. He mentioned that the meeting covered various cooperation\nopportunities, including maritime security, joint military exercises,\ndevelopment of main weapon system equipment (alutsista), and defence\ntechnology. Through this strengthened cooperation, it is hoped that the\ndefence capacities of both countries will improve further and bilateral\nrelations will continue to develop.
