Amex steps up support service<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): American Express has provided additional
\nemergency support service to assist customers in Indonesia and
\nthose who have had to leave the country, the company said
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
A company vice president Marek H. Luba said in a statement
\nthat the American Express travel office here was continuing to
\nprovide services amid the current difficulties and extra measures
\nwere being taken to ensure maximum protection for both staff and
\ncustomers.<\/p>\n
He said the company's customer service center had been
\noperating on a 24-hour basis with backup support from the
\ncompany's regional operating centers across Asia.<\/p>\n
\"We have been able to maintain services for customers in
\nIndonesia by mobilizing additional resources in Malaysia,
\nSingapore, Australia, and around the region.\" he said.<\/p>\n
\"There is a lot of continuing emergency support that needs to
\nbe provided, including new accommodation and ongoing travel
\narrangements.\"<\/p>\n
He said additional customer service facilities have been set
\nup in a Jakarta hotel to assist members, travelers with all
\ninquiries relating to traveler's cheques, travel and hotel
\naccommodation arrangements and other member services.<\/p>\n
American Express has also chartered a number of aircraft for
\nthe timely evacuation of members, travelers and some non-
\nIndonesian employees.<\/p>\n
\"Over the past few days, we have moved fast to step up our
\nemergency service support to provide our customers with the best
\npossible services in such difficult circumstances,\" Luba said.<\/p>\n
\"We'll continue to do everything possible to honor our service
\ncommitment to costumers whilst ensuring the safety and welfare of
