Jakarta (ANTARA) - Kazakhstan\u2019s Ambassador to Indonesia, Serzhan\nAbdykarimov, stated that the Nauryz celebration in his country embodies\nvalues that align closely with Indonesian culture.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe philosophy of Nauryz aligns perfectly with Indonesian values,\nnamely about unity, family, and mutual assistance,\u201d said Abdykarimov\nduring a press conference at the Kazakh Embassy in Jakarta on Wednesday\nevening.<\/p>\n
Nauryz is a traditional New Year celebration in Kazakhstan and\nCentral Asia that marks the spring equinox, typically observed for three\ndays from 21 to 23 March.<\/p>\n
The Ambassador said Nauryz is more than just a holiday, as it also\nsignifies a great victory of life over the long and harsh winter.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the time when the grasslands come alive, the earth warms,\nand people celebrate the birth of new life and the renewal of nature,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n
The Ambassador assessed that Nauryz is very close to the Indonesian\nspirit. \u201cAt its core, Nauryz is very close to the Indonesian spirit.\nJust like Eid, Nauryz is a time to forgive old grudges, visit parents,\nhelp those in need, and open the doors of the home to every guest,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
In modern Kazakhstan, he said, the Nauryz celebration lasts for ten\ndays \u2013 a period known as \u201cNauryznama\u201d, where this ten-day programme\ndeeply reveals the meaning of the holiday through values that are highly\naligned with Indonesian culture.<\/p>\n
It was mentioned that the Nauryz celebration begins on 14 March with\n\u201cKorisu Kuni\u201d (Greeting Day), which becomes the most emotional moment of\nNauryznama and has a direct analogy to Indonesian traditions, he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
On this day, Kazakh people visit each other after the long winter,\nakin to mudik. The tradition of shaking hands firmly with both hands\nsymbolises maintaining relations, mutual forgiveness, and strengthening\nfamily and intergenerational bonds.<\/p>\n
The celebration continues with Qayirimdilikh Kuni (15 March), which\nfocuses on charity and social care. On this day, Kazakh people help\nthose in need, reflecting the value of sharing like alms in Indonesia,\nprioritising collective interests over personal ones.<\/p>\n
Next, Cultural Heritage Day (16 March) features the works of\nartisans, followed by Shanyrak Kuni (17 March), which emphasises family\nvalues, and National Costume Day (18 March), which highlights cultural\nidentity.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, Zhanaru Kuni (19 March) serves as Renewal Day, followed\nby National Values Day (20 March) and Yntymak Kuni (21 March), which\npromotes the spirit of solidarity and gotong royong.<\/p>\n
The peak of the celebration falls on Zhyl Basy \u2013 Nauryz Meyrami (22\nMarch), marked by the traditional Nauryz-kozhe dish as a symbol of\nabundance, before concluding with Tazalykh Kuni (23 March) as National\nCleaning Day.<\/p>\n
Nauryz is included in UNESCO\u2019s Representative List of the Intangible\nCultural Heritage of Humanity and is recognised by the UN General\nAssembly as an International Day.<\/p>\n
