        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2013 Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini\nSjahrir visited Fujisawa City on Monday, 18 May, to promote higher\nlevels of cultural and academic cooperation. \u201cFujisawa City is home to a\ndiverse international community, including more than 600 Indonesian\nnationals. This reflects close people-to-people ties between Indonesia\nand Japan that are continuing to grow at the local level,\u201d Kartini said\nin a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo on Tuesday.\nIndonesian residents in the city include nurses, workers at the Isuzu\ncar factory, and people involved in various other industries. Beyond\nwork, Indonesians in Fujisawa are also actively supporting cultural\ncollaboration with the Fujisawa community, including through Enoshima\nBali Sunset, which will be held at the start of October 2026. \u201cWe also\nappreciate the ongoing communication between Fujisawa City and Badung\nRegency in Bali. The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo stands ready to support\nstronger cooperation and broader partnerships between Indonesia and\nJapan, notably with Fujisawa City,\u201d said Ambassador Kartini. Fujisawa\nMayor Tsuneo Suzuki appreciated Indonesia\u2019s full support through the\nIndonesian Embassy in Tokyo in strengthening friendship and cooperation\nwith the Fujisawa City Government. \u201cThank you for the support from the\nIndonesian Embassy in Tokyo for the cooperation that has been\nestablished, including cultural and tourism cooperation between Fujisawa\nCity and Badung Regency, Bali, which has been in place since 2024, and\nthe Enoshima Bali Sunset. Keio\nUniversity, he noted, runs a short programme in cooperation with the\nUniversity of Indonesia. \u201cI hope academic cooperation with Indonesia can\ncontinue to increase, including in Indonesian student intake in the\nfuture,\u201d said Prof.\u00a0Kazunori Takashio, who was accompanied by Petrus\nAri, visiting Associate Professor, Faculty of Management and Policy, who\nalso teaches in the \u2018Malay-Indonesian Intensive 2\u2019 course at Keio\nUniversity. During the visit, Ambassador Kartini also observed classes\nof the \u2018Malay-Indonesian Intensive 2\u2019 programme, which specifically\nprovides instruction in Indonesian language and culture. During the\nvisit, Kartini also introduced batik to Japanese students. Several\nJapanese students who are alumni of the Darmasiswa scholarship programme\ngave brief presentations in Indonesian before the Ambassador. During the\nsession, they shared experiences from participating in the Darmasiswa\nprogramme and living in various Indonesian cities, including Malang,\nSemarang, and Lampung.
