        "content": "<p>Alwi forbids clinics from charging<\/p>\n<p>BANDUNG: Following the disbursement of health funds saved from<br>\nthe fuel subsidy cuts, community health centers would no longer<br>\nbe allowed to charge people for treatment, a minister says.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinating Minister for the People's Welfare Alwi Shihab<br>\nsaid the government had allocated Rp 3.78 trillion (US$389<br>\nmillion) of the total money saved to provide free health care for<br>\nthe poor.<\/p>\n<p>Many people have been charged medical fees when visiting<br>\nhealth centers because they could not produce letters from their<br>\nvillage chiefs stating their economic status.<\/p>\n<p>Under the scheme, the government pays Rp 5,000 in monthly<br>\nheath insurance premiums for 20 million poor families. The<br>\ngovernment will also pay transportation allowances for health<br>\nworkers.<\/p>\n<p>Alwi said the compensation funds would be directly channeled<br>\nto the health centers. -- JP<\/p>",
