        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 The alumni family of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta\nfor the Special Region of Jakarta (KAUMY DK Jakarta) has called for the\nimportance of peace efforts in the Middle East, given that tensions not\nonly risk triggering a humanitarian crisis but also impact global\neconomic stability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeace must always be the primary choice. Efforts to defuse conflict\nthrough dialogue and humanitarian approaches are important steps to\nprevent greater suffering for civilians,\u201d said Wahyu Sandya Yudha\nPangestu, Chairman of KAUMY DK Jakarta, in a statement in Jakarta on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Pangestu, the escalation of conflicts involving several\ncountries in the Middle East region, including tensions related to Iran\nand the protracted conflict in Palestine, risks creating widespread\nimpacts, both in humanitarian and global economic terms.<\/p>\n<p>He assessed that instability in the region could affect various\nstrategic global sectors, ranging from trade to energy, which ultimately\ncould impact the economies of many countries, including Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>The call for peace also aligns with the humanitarian values that\nMuhammadiyah has consistently championed in responding to various global\nissues.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) urged\nthe United Nations (UN) to immediately take on a role amid the\nescalation of the Middle East conflict involving the United States,\nIsrael, and Iran.<\/p>\n<p>The call was conveyed by DPR RI Speaker Puan Maharani in her speech\nat the Plenary Session of the DPR RI Opening of the Fourth Session of\nthe 2025\u20132026 Parliamentary Term at the parliament complex in Senayan,\nJakarta, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DPR RI urges the UN to take on a role and act immediately in\nupholding respect for international law, protecting civilians, and\nmaintaining shared commitment to preserving peace and global stability,\u201d\nsaid Puan.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the DPR RI also affirmed that the Indonesian government\nmust continue to implement a free and active foreign policy in\nsafeguarding national interests wisely, consistently, and constructively\nin responding to global geopolitical dynamics.<\/p>",
