The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) views the alleged involvement\nof members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces\u2019 Strategic\nIntelligence Agency (BAIS TNI) in the acid attack on KontraS activist\nAndrie Yunus as a serious violation of military intelligence\nfunctions.<\/p>\n
TAUD representative from the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH\nJakarta), Fadhil Alfathan, stated that the information provided by the\nTNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) regarding four suspected\nperpetrators from BAIS TNI indicates a deviation from the agency\u2019s\nfunctions.<\/p>\n
\u201cBAIS should function as an early detection tool for threats directly\nrelated to the TNI\u2019s main duties as regulated in the TNI Law, not as a\ntool for spying on citizens,\u201d said Fadhil in his statement, quoted on\nTuesday (24\/3\/2026).<\/p>\n
Previously, the Metro Jaya Police stated that the number of\nperpetrators might exceed four people.<\/p>\n
On that basis, TAUD is pushing for verification through independent\ninstitutions such as the National Human Rights Commission as well as the\nformation of an independent Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF).<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we urge verification by independent institutions such as\nKomnas HAM and the establishment of an Independent Joint Fact-Finding\nTeam to produce objective and comprehensive facts, targeting field\nactors and intellectual actors,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
They assess that high-ranking officials, including the Defence\nMinister, TNI Commander, and BAIS Chief, need to be held\naccountable.<\/p>\n
TAUD also urges President Prabowo Subianto to form a TGPF involving\ncivil society elements and to ensure that the legal process runs\ntransparently and accountably.<\/p>\n
In addition, they demand that the perpetrators be tried through the\ngeneral court.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause the planned attempted murder is a general criminal offence,\nthe victim is a civilian, ensuring the exposure of the intellectual\nactors of this incident without favouritism, and effective restoration\nfor the victim,\u201d said Fadhil.<\/p>\n
Previously, the four TNI soldiers suspected of being involved in the\nacid attack on Andrie Yunus are members of the BAIS TNI Headquarters\nDetachment (Denma) from the Navy and Air Force elements.<\/p>\n
They hold the ranks of first officers and non-commissioned officers,\nand are currently secured and detained at the Jaya Defence Military\nPolice Command (Pomdam Jaya).<\/p>\n
The acid attack incident occurred on Thursday night (12\/3\/2026) in\nthe Senen area, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
TNI Information Centre Head (Kapuspen) Major General Aulia Dwi\nNasrullah stated that the investigation process is still ongoing against\nthe four personnel suspected of being involved in the assault on Andrie\nYunus.<\/p>\n
