Alleged cyanide killer on trial<\/p>\n

Cibinong District Court opened on Monday the trial of a 23-year-
\nold who allegedly killed with poison last January two brothers
\nand their sister.<\/p>\n
Prosecutor Djamil Zaini charged Budiono Mujiono, alias Maman,
\nwith premeditated murder.<\/p>\n
\"The defendant killed the three by lacing their coffees with
\ncyanide,\" he told the court presided over by judge Edison
\nMuhamad.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor said that the victims -- Mugiono, who was a
\nmeatball maker in Pasar Ciluer, Bogor; his sister Karni and
\nyounger brother Narno -- were found dead on Jan. 25 in Karni's
\nhouse in Cimandala village, Sukaraja district.<\/p>\n
In the investigation, the prosecutors found that it was Karni
\nwho introduced Budiono to her brothers as a shaman from Dukuh
\nTukulan village in Klaten, Central Java, who helped in curing her
\nill step-child, identified as Erin.<\/p>\n
Budiono was later invited to Bogor on June 24, to lead a
\nprayer with the three victims at Karni's house. He promised to
\npray over Karni's decision to sell her house and for the
\nincreased profitability of Mugiono's business, where the younger
\nsiblings worked.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, Mugiono had received Rp 50 million
\n(US$5,200) from the sale of his secondhand car, with Rp 12
\nmillion to be paid the next day.<\/p>\n
Mugiono had the money on his personage when he went to Karni's
\nhouse as he intended to stay the night.<\/p>\n
After the prayer, the defendant put cyanide in the victims'
\ncoffee before taking Mugiono's money. He left the house at about
\n3:30 a.m. for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, where he
\nboarded a flight back to Central Java.<\/p>\n
Bogor Police officers arrested him on Feb. 2 at his hideout in
\nthe Central Java capital of Semarang.<\/p>\n
The prosecutor charged him under the Criminal Code, which
\ncarries the maximum sentence of death for premeditated murder.<\/p>\n
