Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has stated that the upgraded Coretax system now records all taxpayer transactions, making it impossible to evade tax obligations. The system automatically detects tax liabilities by capturing financial activities across all platforms, including cryptocurrency exchanges. This follows a new regulation granting the tax authority access to financial information from crypto service providers.

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has
assured that the core tax administration system, known as Coretax, has
become increasingly sophisticated.

According to him, all taxpayer transactions will be fully recorded by
Coretax, meaning any accompanying tax obligations will automatically be
detected.

“Coretax can already capture where a transaction goes, where the
payment is made, everything. So when you fill in your annual tax return,
all of that will automatically be visible,” Purbaya said at a press
conference at his office in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/7/2026).

Purbaya said the Coretax system was indeed designed in part to
prevent tax evasion. He therefore stressed that taxpayers can no longer
deceive the government in meeting their tax obligations.

“To me, that is even more frightening — you can no longer fib, you’ll
be caught by the tax office, by Coretax, whenever you transact,” he
said.

As is widely known, the Coretax system has connected all financial
transaction activities of taxpayers, whether at financial institutions
or in crypto.

The Director General of Taxes, Bimo Wijayanto, has even officially
issued a circular enabling the tax authority to obtain access to
financial information from crypto asset service providers, no longer
solely from financial institutions such as banks.

This provision is set out in Circular Letter Number SE-9/PJ/2026
concerning the Procedures for Requesting Information and/or Evidence in
the Framework of Implementing Access to Financial Information for Tax
Purposes.

“The Director General of Taxes is authorised to obtain access to
financial information for tax purposes from financial institutions
and/or crypto asset service providers reporting under the Crypto Assets
Reporting Framework (CARF Reporting Obligated Crypto Asset Service
Providers),” the circular, dated Monday (20/7/2026), states.
",
