        "content": "<p>All stolen paintings have been retrieved<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The National Police, in cooperation with<br>\nSingapore Police, have seized three stolen paintings from a<br>\nSingaporean collector, police spokesman Brig. Gen. Nurfaizi said.<\/p>\n<p>Nurfaizi said the three paintings, stolen from the National<br>\nMuseum, were Berganti Rupa by Basoeki Abdullah, Mbah Iro Sentono<br>\nby Trubus Sudarsono and Jaqueline en Robe de Taffetas by Albert<br>\nAndree.<\/p>\n<p>Nurfaizi said the paintings were seized from the collector,<br>\nMichael Lee, on Nov. 24, the Kompas daily reported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>This means police have recovered all of the 25 paintings<br>\nreported missing from the Museum in September.<\/p>\n<p>Police got help from Michael's lawyer of Ong Tay &amp; Partner law<br>\nfirm, Nurfaizi said.<\/p>\n<p>Nurfaizi said police had submitted five paintings to the<br>\nMuseum.<\/p>\n<p>These are A Nude by Basoeki Abdullah, Parang Tritis, Kawah<br>\nTangkuban Perahu, Potret Diri dan Topeng (Self Portrait and<br>\nMasks) by Affandi, and Governor van den Bosch by Raden Sarief<br>\nBustaman Saleh.<\/p>\n<p>The paintings have been returned to the Museum by Michael, who<br>\nhad consigned the paintings to Christie's Oct. 6 Southeast Asian<br>\npainting auction in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>Christie's Singapore withdrew the paintings immediately after<br>\nnews reports from Jakarta on the paintings stolen from the<br>\nNational Museum.<\/p>\n<p>Nurfaizi said the police seized the remaining 17 paintings<br>\nfrom Michael's rented house in South Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The 17 paintings include Alerte Arienne (Charles Walch), Model<br>\nNy Beni Suherman (Basoeki Abdullah), and Hutan (I. Kinigan).<\/p>\n<p>Others were La Maison on Briques (Yves Faucher), Village<br>\nProvencal (Raymond Moisset), Untitled (Paul Collomb), Woman<br>\n(Renoir) and Vase et Mandoline (Fernand Leger).<\/p>\n<p>The rest were Montmartre and Rue a Pontoise (Maurice Utrillo),<br>\nLa Partie de Campagne (H. de Toulouse), Vue sur l'Esque(Cezanne),<br>\nLes Adieux (Picasso), two paintings of Fish Women (Patricia)<br>\nGedung Rijk Museum (anonymous) and Seorang Wanita (anonymous).<\/p>\n<p>Police have arrested four museum employees, identified as<br>\nBambang Widoyono, Komari, Supadi and Syahril, for allegedly<br>\nstealing the paintings, Nurfaizi said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the suspects met the collector in March through a man<br>\nwho was a former museum employee, identified as Ar is still at<br>\nlarge,\" Nurfaizi said.
