A team of doctors said Soeharto has suffered<br>\npermanent brain damage, so he cannot possibly understand complex<br>\nproblems.<\/p>\n<p>The news has, of course, pleased his cronies and his former<br>\nsubordinates who currently are or will be involved in legal<br>\ncases. Governor Sutiyoso, being investigated by the military<br>\npolice over the takeover of the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI)<br>\nheadquarters in 1997, was quite smart to say the attack was<br>\ncarried out on Soeharto's orders. The authorities certainly will<br>\nbe unable to obtain any information from Soeharto.<\/p>\n<p>Sutiyoso's method of avoiding the issue needs to be copied by<br>\nother suspects and prospective suspects in various cases, such as<br>\nthe national car case, Tanjung Priok and East Timor.
