        "content": "<p>Algeria Expands Economic Ties After Severing Relations With UAE<\/p>\n<p>Reporter<\/p>\n<p>September 12, 2026 | 09:43 am<\/p>\n<p>TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Algeria took swift steps to strengthen bilateral\nties and explore economic cooperation with various countries after\nsevering diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).<\/p>\n<p>As quoted by ANTARA, Algeria\u2019s Embassy in Jakarta released a\nstatement on Friday saying the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced\nthat Minister of State and Minister of Oil and Gas Mohamed Arkab held a\nvideo conference with Bangladesh\u2019s Minister of Energy and Mineral\nResources Iqbal Hassan Mahmood on Thursday, September 10.<\/p>\n<p>The two ministers discussed potential partnerships between Algeria\u2019s\nstate-owned oil and gas company, Sonatrach, and Bangladeshi companies in\nliquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and\npetroleum products. They also discussed the development of related\ninfrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>On the same day, Kamel Rezig, Algeria\u2019s Minister of Foreign Trade and\nExport Promotion, and Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan\u2019s Minister of\nInvestment, Industry, and Trade, held a virtual meeting to discuss\nestablishing a joint business council.<\/p>\n<p>Both parties agreed to expand this cooperation to strengthen direct\ncommunication between economic stakeholders in both countries, thereby\nfostering investment and partnership opportunities and supporting the\nimplementation of joint economic and commercial projects.<\/p>\n<p>The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral economic and\ntrade relations and exchanged ideas on how to increase and diversify\ntrade volume in line with both countries\u2019 economic potential.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to strengthening economic cooperation, Algeria is working\nwith Oman to enhance regional stability.<\/p>\n<p>Algeria\u2019s Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, National\nCommunity Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, spoke by phone on\nThursday with Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi.<\/p>\n<p>They discussed various issues of mutual interest, particularly the\nevolving situation in the region.
