        "content": "<p>As Indonesia faces the Eid 2026 homecoming rush, the Central Java\nNational Road Implementation Agency (BBPJN Jateng-DIY) has conducted\nintensive mapping of congestion and disaster-risk points. Travellers are\nadvised to be cautious of dozens of identified hotspots scattered across\nmain routes leading to Central Java.<\/p>\n<p>According to monitoring data, approximately 17.7 million people are\nexpected to enter Central Java on Sunday, 1 March. Given the massive\nvehicle volumes on the Pantura route, Pansela route, and central\ncorridor, the government has accelerated preparations of road\ninfrastructure and facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of BBPJN Jateng-DIY, Moch Iqbal Tamher, stated that the road\nstability level of national roads in Central Java currently reaches\n93.47%. Despite being ready for transit, travellers must pay attention\nto the identified high-risk zones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are 46 congestion hotspots and 23 disaster-risk points along\nthis year\u2019s Eid return routes,\u201d said Iqbal Tamher.<\/p>\n<p>The main causes of congestion at these 46 points are dominated by\nbottleneck locations, service areas, narrow road sections, and steep\ndescents. Areas at risk of flooding due to heavy rain or tidal surge\ninclude several low-lying regions, whilst hilly areas with unstable soil\nprone to landslides include mountainous sections along the route.<\/p>\n<p>To manage potential vehicle accumulation during peak return traffic\n(3 days before to 3 days after Eid), Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo\nannounced a strategic policy offering toll rate discounts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn accordance with an agreement with toll road operators, the toll\ndiscount this year has increased to 30%, from the previous 20%.\nImplementation begins 9 days before Eid,\u201d Dody announced during a\nworking visit to the Pantura route.<\/p>\n<p>This policy is intended to motivate travellers to undertake journeys\nearlier (early bird) to avoid severe congestion during peak traffic\nperiods.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond discount rates, the Public Works Ministry through toll road\nmanagement has also scheduled the opening of 10 functional toll road\nsegments to be operated during the Eid travel period. These operational\nsegments represent a concrete step to distribute traffic at traditional\ncongestion points so that public journeys are smoother and more\ncomfortable.<\/p>\n<p>The West Java Traffic Police Directorate has confirmed that several\ntoll road segments are designed to operate functionally during the 2026\nEid homecoming and return traffic periods. Traffic units in the region\nare conducting data collection and road condition checks within their\njurisdictions.<\/p>",
