Al Izhar high school officially opened<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Education and Culture Wardiman
\nDjojonegoro inaugurated the operation of privately-run Al Izhar
\nhigh school at Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The high school, which is owned by the Anakku Foundation, has
\n30 air-conditioned classrooms capable of accommodating 360
\nstudents.<\/p>\n
The school is equipped with laboratories for biology, physics,
\nchemistry, language and computer.<\/p>\n
Fauzia Aswin Hadis, chairperson of the Al Izhar school, told
\nreporters after the inauguration ceremony that only qualified
\nstudents will be accepted by the school.<\/p>\n
\"This year, for example, the high school selected only 80
\nstudents out of the 180 applicants intending to study here,\" she
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
She said that the entrance fee for the school is set at Rp 3
\nmillion (US$1,363) with a monthly fee of Rp 80,000.<\/p>\n
Various lessons are provided by the school, including Koran
\nreading course twice a week.<\/p>\n
Talking about the quality of teachers, she said all the
\nteachers are university's graduates.<\/p>\n
Bustanil Arifin, chairman of the Anakku Foundation, told
\nreporters it is important to give students religious education in
\naddition to normal lessons. (05)<\/p>",
