        "content": "<p>Akbar Tandjung's struggle<\/p>\n<p>One of the country's serious problems is a weak judiciary. The<br>\nlaw could not be enforced because it is subordinate to power.<\/p>\n<p>However, nowadays the power of the military has been reduced<br>\nand Golkar Party did not control the votes during the last<br>\nelection. Power has been divided.<\/p>\n<p>Amid these changes, reform has yet to enable the judges to<br>\nexercise their powers freely and independently.  The law can<br>\nstill be bought and is still liable to intervention.<\/p>\n<p>The law has punished House of Representatives Speaker Akbar<br>\nTandjung. However there is a precedent -- central bank governor,<br>\nSjahril Sabirin, who maintained his post despite a court<br>\nconviction which earned him a three-year jail term.  Sabirin was<br>\nlater acquitted.<\/p>\n<p>If Sabirin was able to get away with it, why can't Akbar? And<br>\nif Akbar and Sjahril could eventually walk free why not the<br>\nothers?
