        "content": "<p>Akbar Tandjung<br>\nclarifies<\/p>\n<p>From Bisnis Indonesia<\/p>\n<p>I would like to clarify reports appearing in several dailies<br>\non Oct. 12, 2001, regarding the use of non-budgeted funds of the<br>\nState Logistics Agency (Bulog).<\/p>\n<p>I have never stated that I received the above agency's funds<br>\nof Rp 40 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The real fact is that I, as the state secretary minister at<br>\nthe time, asked staff of the Bulog chief to directly hand over<br>\nthe said amount to the management of a foundation, who was also<br>\npresent.<\/p>\n<p>This foundation had been recommended by the related minister<br>\nto execute a food supply program in accordance with the then<br>\ngovernment's policy.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the reports saying that I had personally received<br>\nsuch funds are entirely incorrect.<\/p>\n<p>It was former president Soeharto's policy to make use of non-<br>\nbudgeted Bulog funds for humanitarian purposes in the form of a<br>\nfood supply program.
