Akbar still doing business as usual<\/p>\n

It has been strange to observe the Bulog scandal II. Many new
\nfindings have emerged, particularly at the hearing of defendant
\nRahardi Ramelan on the \"Mahakam scenario\".<\/p>\n
There was indeed such a meeting. In my view, the meeting was
\nobviously a conspiracy, which was aimed at preventing the truth
\nfrom being revealed. It was a deliberate cover-up. This, I should
\nsay, is against the law.<\/p>\n
When reminded of the meeting, Akbar Tandjung simply replied,
\n\"I don't remember\", to pestering newsmen. Tempo magazine recently
\nexposed the meeting and those involved.<\/p>\n
This finding has made the public even more aware of all the
\nlies. Oddly, Akbar goes about his business as usual. People do
\nnot blame him directly, of course, but the facts already gathered
\nand the \"(I) don't remember\" answers he has made, leave the
\npublic with more questions than answers.<\/p>\n
If this country were to be headed by a forgetful leader,
\npolicies would not be based on the truth. In reality, however,
\nAkbar is now commenting on various other issues. Worse still, the
\nHouse of Representatives (DPR), with so many intellectuals, is
\nprepared to support such a speaker. It will now be very hard to
\nset up an inquiry committee. At the time of the first Bulog
\nscandal, when Abdurrahman Wahid was president, even though there
\nwas less money involved (Rp 35 billion, against Rp 54 billion in
\nthe present scandal), an inquiry committee was formed easily. Is
\nthe DPR practicing favoritism? Just get rid of politics if the
\nlaw is supposed to be enforced.<\/p>\n
