Airvan operates GA8 Aircraft for transporting tourists<\/p>\n
TUBAN, Bali (JP): Indonesian company PT Satmarindo on Friday
\npurchased a single-engine, eight-seat GA8 Airvan aircraft from
\nAustralian company Gippsland Aeronautics.<\/p>\n
The aircraft will be operated by PT Airvan Dirgantara
\nIndonesia to allow foreign tourists to enjoy the beauty of Bali
\nfrom above, or to visit various tourist destinations in
\nneighboring areas.<\/p>\n
The purchasing contract was signed at a simple ceremony held
\nnext to the brand new aircraft parked on the apron of The Ngurah
\nRai International Airport, Tuban. It was attended by the
\nAustralian Trade Minister Mark Vaile, Gippsland Aeronautics'
\nManaging Director Michael Hall, and PT Airvan Dirgantara
\nIndonesia's Director James Budiono.<\/p>\n
"Australians have been coming to Bali for years for holidays.
\nNow when they are enjoying the sights of this beautiful part of
\nthe world, they might be flying in an aircraft made in
\n(Australian state) Victoria," Australian Trade Minister Mark
\nVaile said.<\/p>\n
The US$350,000 GA8 Airvan can operate from rough landing areas
\nas short as 550 metres in length. Its ability to operate in basic
\nconditions makes the aircraft ideal for tourist operators, and
\neven mining or oil and gas companies operating in remote areas.<\/p>\n
During the recent Singapore Air Show the GA8 Airvan had also
\nattracted a lot of interest from several countries including the
\nPhilippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Laos.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old company spent eight years developing the
\npresent model of GA8 Airvan. The company has sold aircraft to
\ncustomers in Canada, Belize, and Mozambique.<\/p>",
