AirNav Indonesia has extended operating hours at various airports to support the government's efforts to reduce airfare prices during the 2026 Eid holiday season, providing airlines with flexibility to schedule additional flights. The initiative includes operational incentives such as waiving advance and extension fees during peak travel periods and improved slot management through coordination with airport operators. AirNav emphasises that all measures maintain safety standards whilst aiming to increase flight capacity and encourage fare competition.

Jakarta — AirNav Indonesia has implemented several measures to
support the government’s efforts to reduce airfare prices during the
2026 Eid holiday travel period. One key strategy involves extending the
operating hours of aviation navigation services at various airports.

Setio Anggoro, Operational Director of AirNav Indonesia, stated that
the policy aims to provide flexibility for airlines in scheduling
additional flights. “One of AirNav’s supports for lowering ticket prices
is extending operating hours as requested by airlines so they have the
flexibility to adjust or add schedules,” Setio said at a press
conference on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Extended operating hours cannot be implemented unilaterally by
AirNav. Coordination with airport operators is essential to ensure all
services run synchronously. “AirNav cannot open alone. If AirNav is open
but the airport is not, it won’t work. Both AirNav and the airport
operator must open together,” he explained.

Beyond extending navigation service hours, AirNav is also providing
operational incentives to airlines during the Eid travel period. “During
Eid holidays, if airlines request longer operating hours—whether
extended or advanced—we waive both advance and extension fees,” Setio
said.

This initiative is expected to encourage airlines to increase flight
frequency, thereby raising seat capacity. With more flights available,
airfares are likely to become more competitive.

AirNav is also offering flexibility in flight slot management, an
important component of air traffic management. “We’re providing slot
flexibility. Slot management is handled through CHRONOS, an application
managed by AirNav, and we coordinate intensively with Angkasa Pura,
airport operators, and airport authorities,” he noted.

This coordination is crucial because the surge in traffic during the
holiday season can lead to flight schedule congestion if not properly
managed. AirNav ensures that all additional slot requests from airlines
are monitored and adjusted according to airport capacity.

“Essentially, we’re providing room for airlines to increase flights
if needed,” Setio said.

He emphasised that all these policies are implemented whilst
maintaining aviation safety standards. “Everything is done whilst
maintaining safety standards and existing operational capacity,” he
concluded.
",
