Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has\nspoken out regarding the resignation of Perry Warjiyo as Governor of\nBank Indonesia (BI). Airlangga stated that the decision to step down was\nconveyed by Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti, who has now assumed\nthe role of acting Governor of BI.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was conveyed earlier by Mrs.\u00a0Destry, who is now acting as the\ntemporary Governor of BI,\u201d Airlangga said when met by journalists at his\noffice on Monday (27\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n
Regarding market volatility following the resignation, Airlangga said\nconditions remain relatively stable, provided BI continues to implement\nits policies to maintain the stability of the rupiah. \u201cThe important\nthing is the institution, and the BI institution continues to carry out\nits function of maintaining the exchange rate and monetary stability,\u201d\nhe continued.<\/p>\n
When asked whether he had been informed of a candidate to replace\nPerry, Airlangga said he was still waiting for a decision from President\nPrabowo Subianto. \u201cWe will just wait and see,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day, Perry Warjiyo officially resigned as Governor of\nBank Indonesia. The position is temporarily held by Senior Deputy\nGovernor Destry Damayanti.
