Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has committed to keeping the price of subsidised Pertalite fuel unchanged until the end of 2026. The government will use the state budget as a shock absorber amid high global oil prices, with the Indonesian Crude Price averaging USD90.46 per barrel in the first half of 2026. The policy aims to protect public purchasing power and is accompanied by plans to reduce diesel imports through the B50 biodiesel programme.

The government is committed to not raising the price of subsidised
Pertalite fuel until the end of 2026, according to Coordinating Minister
for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

He said the state budget (APBN) continues to function as a shock
absorber in withstanding oil price spikes, with the average Indonesian
Crude Price (ICP) throughout the first half of 2026 reaching USD90.46
per barrel, far above the APBN assumption.

“The government’s principle is clear: people’s purchasing power must
not be eroded. That is why we maintain fuel prices, stabilise food
prices, and channel stimulus precisely on target,” Airlangga said at a
press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs
office in Jakarta, as quoted on Thursday (6/8/2026).

Airlangga said this is a directive from the President. In line with
that, the government will also reduce dependence on diesel imports
through the B50 biodiesel programme policy. This is part of the
government’s policy to maintain energy security.

“With the implementation of B50, we will no longer import diesel. And
in fact, at current prices, the utilisation of subsidies for B50 is
relatively small,” Airlangga concluded.
",
