Fitch Ratings\ndowngraded Indonesia\u2019s debt outlook from stable to negative on 4 March\n2026, citing concerns over policy uncertainty and a budget deficit above\ntarget. In its assessment, Fitch highlighted the mandate of the\ninvestment authority. Danantara plans to invest US$26 billion (1.7 per\ncent of GDP) this year in downstream projects targeting the minerals,\nenergy, food, and agriculture sectors. \u201cThere remains uncertainty over\nwhether the fund\u2019s mandate will expand over time to cover quasi-fiscal\nactivities through increased investments to support government\npriorities. This could reduce fiscal transparency, policy consistency,\nand raise contingent liability risks for the state,\u201d the Fitch ratings\nrelease said.
