        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga\nHartarto, stated that rising prices for various export commodities could\nserve as compensation for Indonesia\u2019s soaring crude oil purchases.<\/p>\n<p>Airlangga made the statement to President Prabowo Subianto during a\nFull Cabinet Session at the State Palace on Friday, 13 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Airlangga noted that rising global oil prices resulting from the\nconflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States would also enable\nIndonesia to realise windfall gains from Non-Tax State Revenue\n(PNBP).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe then have the potential to obtain windfalls from Non-Tax State\nRevenue for oil and gas (PNBP migas) and commodities,\u201d Airlangga\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can, in effect, impose additional taxes on these commodities,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>However, Airlangga did not specify the exact amount of the additional\ntax in question.<\/p>\n<p>He only mentioned that proposals to impose additional taxes on\nvarious commodities would be regulated through a Government Regulation\nin Lieu of Law (Perppu) currently being prepared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are preparing the timing; naturally, this is a political decision\nfor the President. However, this is the content of the Perppu we\npreviously prepared during the Covid period, which we have adapted\ndifferently,\u201d Airlangga said.<\/p>\n<p>Through the Perppu, the government would also be able to alter budget\nallocations across programmes, issue State Securities (SBN), eliminate\nimport duties, and provide exemptions for certain raw materials to\nensure exports continue, as well as adjust arrangements for corporate\nincome tax (PPh) and value-added tax (PPN) revenue in emergency\nconditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this Perppu, we can make these changes without the legislature.\nThe government gains direct flexibility to make adjustments,\u201d Airlangga\nsaid.<\/p>",
