        "content": "<p>AirAsia introduces two new routes<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR: Southeast Asia's leading low-cost carrier<br>\nAirAsia said Tuesday it will introduce two new international<br>\nroutes, with flights from the Malaysian capital to Chiang Mai and<br>\nPhnom Penh.<\/p>\n<p>The daily services to the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai<br>\nwill begin on Oct. 20, while daily flights to the Cambodian<br>\ncapital Phnom Penh are to start from Nov. 1, it said.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are thrilled with our latest expansion to Indochina.<br>\nAirAsia will be the first and only airline to offer direct<br>\nflights between Kuala Lumpur and Chiang Mai,\" said AirAsia chief<br>\nexecutive officer Tony Fernandes.<\/p>\n<p>The inclusion of Phnom Penh in AirAsia's network, which now<br>\nlinks Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Macau, Xiamen in<br>\nChina and the Philippines, strengthens the airline's connections<br>\nand regional presence, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Fernandes said AirAsia's upcoming launch into Vietnam on<br>\nOctober 17, with flights to Hanoi from Bangkok, signals that the<br>\nairline now covers most of the major cities in Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n<p>AirAsia was launched as a budget carrier in December 2001 with<br>\njust two aircraft and has since become a significant regional<br>\nplayer, with its business model increasingly imitated by national<br>\ncarriers and a host of new low-cost entrants. -- AFP<\/p>",
