        "content": "<p>AirAsia halts direct flights between Singapore and Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>AirAsia\u2019s Indonesian subsidiary Indonesia AirAsia previously provided\na daily Singapore-Jakarta service, but this will be halted from\nJuly.<\/p>\n<p>SINGAPORE: AirAsia will halt direct flights between Singapore and\nJakarta from July, the airline\u2019s website showed on Tuesday (Jun 30).<\/p>\n<p>AirAsia\u2019s Indonesian subsidiary Indonesia AirAsia previously provided\na daily Singapore-Jakarta service, with outbound flights from the\nIndonesian capital carrying the flight number QZ 264 and return flights\nassigned the flight number QZ 265.<\/p>\n<p>These flights operated on Tuesday, but do not appear in the flight\nstatus section of AirAsia\u2019s website going forward.<\/p>\n<p>Direct AirAsia flights between Singapore and Jakarta are also no\nlonger available for booking on the carrier\u2019s website, with only flights\nthat transit in Kuala Lumpur offered.<\/p>\n<p>The Singapore-Kuala Lumpur legs of these flights are operated by\nAirAsia, rather than Indonesia AirAsia.<\/p>\n<p>AirAsia customers had earlier reported that their direct flights\nbetween Singapore and Jakarta had been rerouted through the Malaysian\ncapital.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia AirAsia has suspended dozens of flights, according to the\nAirAsia website. Among them are its direct flights between Singapore and\nBali, which have been marked as \u201cmoved to Fly-Thru via KUL\u201d on the\nAirAsia website.<\/p>\n<p>According to aviation analyst Brendan Sobie, AirAsia considers the\ncutting of both direct services to be permanent, saying in a LinkedIn\npost that Indonesia AirAsia had exited Singapore after 17 years.<\/p>\n<p>In response to queries from CNA, Mr Bo Lingam, the group CEO of\nAirAsia X \u2013 also known as the AirAsia Group \u2013 said last week that the\ngroup was \u201coptimising (its) network by reallocating capacity to\nstronger-performing routes and leveraging (its) Fly-Thru connectivity\nvia Kuala Lumpur and other available hubs to capture demand more\nefficiently\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to closely monitor developments and actively assess our\nflight schedules based on evolving market conditions and demand\npatterns, with any necessary cancellations or temporary suspensions\nimplemented carefully to support long-term network sustainability while\nminimising disruption to our guests,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll impacted guests will be informed promptly and provided with\nservice recovery options to manage their travel plans.\u201d<\/p>",
