        "content": "<p>Air passenger telecom test<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): British Telecommunications and Racal\/Honeywell<br>\nhave announced the completion of the world's first interactive<br>\npassenger services transmission over satellite.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement made available yesterday, British<br>\nTelecommunications reported that a selection of passenger orders<br>\nwere exchanged over satellite between an in-cabin simulator at<br>\nRacal\/Honeywell and British Telecommunications' airline<br>\ninteractive services processing center in Portsmouth, Britain.<\/p>\n<p>The test used the Skyphone satellite network, which was<br>\ndeveloped by British Telecommunications, Singapore Telecom and<br>\nNorwegian Telecom, and British Telecommunications' ground earth<br>\nstation. The technology will lead to the seamless communications<br>\nbetween software, on-board avionics, the satellite and the<br>\nprocessing center on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>A number of international airlines including Singapore<br>\nAirlines, British Airways and Lufthansa are scheduled for the<br>\ninstallation program later this year.(icn)<\/p>",
